BILLIARDS
ALCOCK DINER TOURNAMENT. The Alcock billiard diner tournament commenced last night, and the four games played were viewed by quite a large number of spectators. Two tables were in play, and two games were played on each. Tho results were:—
C. Holcroft (received. 75) versus A. Longmora (scratch), the former winning by 83 points. Tho winner slowed fine skill and judgment, and was apparently generously treated by the handicappers. _ H. H. Porter (received 10) versus C. S. Igglesden (scratch). Porter got_ a good lead, but was caught about midway. Thereafter he just managed to get home with a few points to spare. E. W. Burd (scratch) vorsus H. Gotlieb (received 50). This was Burd's game from the commencement, although the loser played several clever shots. The winner compiled a pleasing break of 41, the best of the evening. 0. V. Goulter (received 50) versus J. W. Carr (also receiving 50). This was a keenly contested gamo, and was won by Goulter by a small margin. Further games will be played to-night.
