DUNEDIN TRAM FATALITY

INQUIRY OPENED. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Dunedin, May 15. An inquest concerning the death of George Burnett, chief clerk in the Railway Engineer's Office, who reoeived fatal injuries through being thrown heavily against a tramway pole by a tramcar, was opened this morning. Deceased's daughter gave evidence that he was 58 years of age and in good health, but he was near-sighted. The medical evidence was that there were extensive fractures of the ribs, which were sufficient to cause death, and probably internal injuries also. The inquest was adjourned until- next Friday.
