CARTERTON.
In the Magistrate's Court at Carterton on Thursday a man named Frederick Udy was charged with -assaulting a police constable when in the execution of his duty, and also resisting a police officer in the c-secution of his duty. Accused pleaded guilty to both charges, and on the first was sentenced to one month's imprisonment, and on the second to seven days, the sentences to bo concurrent. Accused was also sentenced to fourteen days' imprisonment for failing to obey a maintenance order of the Court made against him in August last for the maintenance of his wife and daughter. The accumulated arrears of same at present amount to £21 10s. The Magistrate stated that sentence would be suspended if £2 were paid within seven days. At a meeting of Court Marquis of Normanby, A.0.F., on Wednesday evening, Bros. J. 31. Nicholls, C. Woodbury, and 11. Armstrong were appointed court trustees in place of the previous trustees who had resigned. The brethren of the Masterton Lodge paid a fraternal visit and were entertained at a social evening.
