AT GRIPS IN WESTERN GALICIA
RUSSIANS HEROIC STAND (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) (Rec. May 14, 1 'a.m.) Potrograd, May 13. It is semi-officially estimated that the Austro-Germans have already lost one hundred thousand in the eight days' battle in Galicia. The Russians continue the heroic struggle against superior numbers, which the German railway system enabled them to, concentrate at Donajecz.
Seven divisions on. a front of thirteen miles formed the point of the wedge, but the efforts of the Germans only forced the Russians to retire to a more secure position with impenetrated front. The Austro-Germans in the Jadvomik district left five 'thousand dead l on the mountain slopes.
During the last few days the Russians have taken the offensive over sixty, versts on the Czernowitz-Obertyn front. They captured, five thousand prisoners on Monday.
