WELLINGTON KENNEL CLUB

'ANNUAL MEETING. Mr. A. W. Blair presided at the annual meeting of the Wellington Kennel Club last evening. The annual report, which was adopted, stated that the club had to he, congratulated oil its satisfactory position. The annual show held in August last was a great sucixss, and (.ho committee thanked all members tor the assistance given by tlieni duiiug tho season. Tho Fox Torrior Club of Wellington, whose trophies and produce stakes were again competed for, drew a great number of entries in this breed. The British Bulldog Club's trophies and challenge shield were also allotted to Wellington, and drew a large number of entries. Other specialist clubs were also thanked for the assistance given by them. Tho committee was again fortunate in obtaining the use of one of tho Harbour Board's sheds for the show, and the wish was expressed that they may yet again be granted this privilege. During the year the sum of £14 was expended 011 30 new divisions and timber for making permanent bulldog benching. Other benching on hand estimated at £63 at the beginning of tho year has been written off 10 per cent, as usual. The New Zealand Kennel Club has advised the following challenge classes for the forthcoming shoiv, viz.Bulldogs. English setters, field spaniels, cocker spaniels, and Pekingese. In moving tile adoption of the nnnu.il report, the president (Mr. Blair) eaid that last year was a record one for the club in every way. The annual showwas held at the time of the outbreak of war, and notwithstanding this fact it was a distinct success. The club continued to prosper, and prospects for the coming year were bright. The speaker referred to the loss sustained by two members of the committee (Messrs. J. 11. I'ye-Smith and W. H. Simmonds) volunteering for active service. Two new members ware elected. Eulogistic reference was made to tho work accomplished, by Mr. E. D. 11. Heaton (secretary) during past years, and especially in connection with shows which have been held under tho jurisdiction of the club. Tho election of officers resulted as follows: —President, Mr. A. W. Blair; Australian representatives, Mrs. C4arnet Soilleux (Victoria) and Mr. M'lntosh (Sydney); vice-presidents, Mrs. A. E. Kirnot, Drs. Faulke, W. K. Fyffe, Sbatid, Newman, M.P., A. W. Izard, Major Hume, Messrs. F. 51. B. Fisher, J. Godber, W. H. S. Moorhouse, T. C. Ccltman, W. A. Smith, F. Crosslev, T. M. Wilford, M.P., W. R. Morris, J. Webster, J. Fuller, W. Janson, P. Hunter, and C. B. Kline; executive, vice-presidents, Messrs. A. E. ICernot and F. F. Newman; delegates to the N.Z.X.0., Messrs. A. W. Blair and F. F. Nowman; management committee, Messrs. It. W. Brown, A. S. Brown, E. J. Betliell, A. Hobday, J. H. Wright, F. Green, 8. George Nathan, A. Green, C. E. Hansen, and J. W. Dayman; lion, auditor, Mr. A. W. -T. Cook; hon. veterinary surgeon, Mr. F. Crosslev, M.R.C.V.S.; lion, treasurer, Mr. H. .T. AVrio-ht; hon. secretary, Mr. E. D. H. Heaton.
