: ~4 OLYMPIC CLUB'S RUN. j The usual Saturday run of the Olympic Harriers was. held at Brooklyn, the members being the guests of Mr. D. Alabaster. A dozen members were in attendance. The trail led from Brooklyn along the hills overlooking Happy Valley, whence it descended to the Valney Road along which a fairly fast pace was made to the starting point. The usual "run-in" over the last quarter of a mile resulted in a' win for W. Morris, with A. M'Cauley second, and J. Wilson third. Afterwards the members sat down to a sumptuous tea. Several musical items were contributed, and altogether a thoroughly enjoyable evening. was spent. WELLINGTON CLUB. Wellington Harriers held their novice race from Seatoun on Saturday, a good two-mile course being laid by Captain T. Farrington and.W. Bennett. There was a good attendance of members, and a field of 12 faced the starter. L. Rountroe, the limit man, held the lead for more than half-way, when he was displaced by M. Carmody, but after a short distance Rountree went to the front again, and was not troubled till 50 yards from home, when he was challenged by J. D. Bennett, who came with a great run and made a dead-heat of it. Carmody was the next to finish, paining third place from C. Fisher by indlies. J. D. Bennett, who had a handicap of SOsec., put up the fastest time, viz., 13min. oOsec., and he should be heard of again before the season finishes. BROOKLYN CLUB. There wore ten entries for the Brooklyn Club's Novice Handicap, run on Saturday. The course was trailed by the club captain, F. Harlen, assisted by H. Mio. From the terminus the trail led northwards, then across the valley and down through the cowyards. The road was then followed as far as the church, then the trail went over the hill and acroes the flats to the gasometer. The paper then led via tlio paddocks to the foot of the Seatoun hills, thence via the road back to the terminus. The country traversed was nearly _ all flat and contained several good jumps over ditches and fences. The distance in all was somewhat over two miles. The limit man, C. Anderson (56sec.) made a- H arm pace at tTie start, but was soon overhauled by W. Coop (32sec.), and C. Cummins (26sec.), Cummin 6 took the lead by the gasometer and was never again headed. Coming up the straight bo showed plenty of pace, and won easily by about 60 yards. W. Coop was second, and J. Molloy (off scratch) third. The fastest time was put up by C. Cummins, whoso time, ISmin. 31sec., was a decided improvement on that of the same race last year, which was won by hi 6 brother (N. .Cummins.).
