AN ALL-ROUND INCREASE. On and after May 15 new rates of freight on New Zealand produce will be in operation on all direct lines, showing a substantial advance on previous rates. Br £217s 6d £2 2s 6d Kauri gum, cases £210s £2 2s6d Kauri gum, sacks £2 2s6d £115s These rates are for London and other P orfcs the United Kingdom, and are jaelow those ruling in Australia for similar cargo. They are subject also to the usual primage and to 25 per cent, war surcharge. The new rates for New Zealand hemp and tow come into operation on July 1, and will rule until December 31. Uemp, per ton 4 0 315 Tow, per ton 415 4 0 ■The revised rates to Rio de Janeiro and Monte Video will be as follow:— Oats and potatoes, £2 15s. per ton • general cargo, £3 10s. por ton; agricultural machinery, £3 per ton.
