. —-—« — SEARCH FOR . MISSING COUNTERS FOILS. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) . Auckland, May 9. The hearing of argument in connection with the Taumarunui election petition was continued yesterday afternoon and last evening. The Court instructed Mr. Schramm, Returning Officer at Te Kuiti, to go ty train to Te Kuiti and bring down packages with a view to searching for tho counterfoils. Mr. 'Justice Cooper explained that it might be that missing counterfoils would be -found in another package. The Court wanted to know whether or not these counterfoils were in existence. It might be that someone had destroyed them. Certainly a lot were missing. The Returning Officer said he could return by train on Monday afternoon, and was instructed to briiig all the packages and report to tho Registrar of the Court. Counsel then argued l certain points raided during the hearing, including - the place of abode of the respondent, and the question, affecting the group of persons who registered before October 27 on claims which did not show they possessed the three months' residence qualification. Mr. ' Justice Cooper complimented both counsel on the conspicuous ability with which they had argued the case. They would adjourn the Court until Friday, when the Judges might be able to decide whether they would order a scrutiny of the rotes. Their Honours did not know at present, but they might find that had sufficient material on which to give a final judgment.
