FIRE IN A CYCLE DEPOT

« Fire considerably damaged the contents of Mr. J. Boucher's cycle depot at No. 7-1 Lambton Quay, shortly before half-past five o'clock on Saturday evening. The flames had a good hoH of t'he building when the brigade arrived, but were quickly suppressed and the very likely possibility of the adjoining buildings catching firo fire checked. The outbreak was due to the ignition of benzine in a barrel caused by an employee lighting a.lamp lvhila procuring some of the benzine for a customer. Water was poured over tlio flames, but only caused a big blaze. The stock, which is valued at £1400, is insured in tile Northern and Yorkshire Offices for ;6!X)0. The building is owned by the Allen Estate.
