MASTERTON NOTES
Tho annual meeting of the Mastorton branch of the Y.M.C.A. was held on Thursday, which was preceded by a wellattended dinner. 'ihe annual report showed the finances to bo in a very satisfactory condition, due largely to a splendid legacy of £1000, left by the late Mr. John M'Crae. Mr. C. E. Dnniell was elected president for tho ensuing year. Tho swimming prizes won during the year wore presented by Mr. G. It. Sykcs, M.P. In the Magistrate's Court on Thursday, Hatiick and Co., of Wangamii, claimed £265 from 10. H. Spackman, of Mastorton, in the alternative a sum of £75 in damages for failure to complete the purchase of a motor-lorry. After hearing evidence, His Worship ga\e judgment for £25 damages with costs.
