THROWN FROflt A HORSE

(By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Timaru, May 5. A fatal accident happened to John Matheson, a farmer, of Winchester, last night. He and a neighbour were riding home from Temuka about 6 p.m., when Matthesou's horso bolted and threw him, and his companion riding after him in the dark did not see him fall and went on to Winchester, returning when he found the horse there without the rider. The accident happened opposite a house, and a woman inmate, hearing the horse galloping, and the fall, went out and found Mattheson and sent for the doctor. Mattheson was removed to the Hospital, and died there this morning. The result of the fall was fracture of the skull, and the verdict returned at the inquest was accidental death.
