MR. MASSEY AT OTOROHANGA
WARM WELCOME FROM THE NATIVES. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent.) Te Kultl, May 5, The Prime Minister, who paid a flying visit to-day to Otorohanga for the_ purpose of opening the new Municipal Hall there, received a most enthusiastic reception. The settlers of the townships and of the surrounding districts from far and near gathered in great numbers, and several of the oldest inhabitants of the township stated that they had never before seen such a large gathering there. ' Festoons of flags were •stretched across the stage and the stirring nature of the reception was made the more interesting by the presence of a group of Maoris, suitably garbed, who greeted Mr. Massey with an oldtime Maori weloome in front of, the railway station.
On rising to speak at the publio reception outside the new hall, and also at the subsequent luncheon, the Prime Minister was greeted with loud and prolonged applause and cheering. A largo number or people gathered at the railway station in the afternoon to give the Prime Minister a suitable &orid-off.
