INQUEST AT PETONE
■ An inquest was held at Patone yesterday before Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., concerning the death of 'William Bolton, aged about 40 years, of 26 Ryan Street, Petone, who died suddenly whilst assisting a man named Wm. Ward to haul a fish-net. off the Petone foreshore on Tuesday night. Dr. Harding stated that he was called: to the beach on the night in question to see deceased. As the result of a post-mortem examination held subsequently, he found that deceased had suffered from fatty degeneration of ths heart. Win. Ward deposed that he had known Bolton for about eight months. They, had gone out in a boat for the purpose of fishing. Bolton went along the beach to move a rope attached to the trawling net. Shortly afterwards, witness discovered him lying face downwards on the sand., He turned him over, and as there were no signs of life, he immediately sent for Dr. Harding.
A verdict was returned in accordance with the medical evidence.
