BARCLAY HECTOR AGAIN REMANDED Mr. W. G. Riddell, S.M., presided over a sitting of the Magistrate's Court yesterday.Barclay Hector, Registrar of the University, was further remanded to May 12 on the charge of having received £1027 18s. lOd. from the Wellington Investment Trustee , and Agency Company, Ltd., and failing to account for the same to the Senate of the New Zealand University. Mr. V. R. Meredith applied for the *emand,. stating that the investigations of the Senate's books were not yet comdieted. Mr. T. M. Wilford was present on behalf of accused, bail being fixed as before in £250. YOUNG MAN IN TROUBLE. A young man named MaeDougall, 19 years of age, and employed in the Agricultural Department, appeared before the Magistrate in the afternoon to answer five charges of the theft of letters containing postal notes, of a total value of 15s. The letters had been either stolen off the table at the Department's office or from the box at the Post Office.

Chief-Detective Boddam said aocused had previously borne a good character. The Magistrate took this into consideration and said lie would treat the live charges as one. After severely cautioning accused, he convicted and ordered him to come up for sentence when called upon. OTHER CASES. Sidney Hunter pleaded guilty to a charge of stealing a suit of clothes, valued at £5, from Thomas Neagle, and was sentenced to one month's imprisonment. John Anderson was remanded to May 2 on a charge of assaulting Cecil Robert l'ayne, and causing bun actual bodily harm. Mr. H. F. O'Leary appeared on his behalf, and on his application bail was allowed in £50. For drunkenness, Patrick Ford t-nd Nicholas Scallan were each fined 10s., in default 48 hours' imprisonment.
