Buckland, - curate' of Uroydon parish church, and formerly vicar of Waihi. has been nominated bj the Archbishop of Canterbury to tho vicarage of Alkham with Capel-le-Ferne, Kent. '

Mrs. T. H. Hamer, wife of the auditor to the New Zealand Government in London, and at one time secretary to Mr. Seddon when Prime Minister of Wow Zealand, has been very unwell of late, and ha.s now gone to St. Leonard's-on-Sea witli her daughter. The following Now Zealanders called on the High Commissioner during tho week:—Lieutenant H. Elsdale (Wellington), Anne E. West-all (Napier), Robert J. Morgan (Auckland). W. S. Lockhead (Dunedm), Mr. and Mrs. 11. W. Stuart (Picton), William Grove, M.B. (Kelso, Otago), Colonel W. J. Will (Wellington), and Charles John Wilson.

. Mr._ J.. G. Goodfellow was successful in gaining the_ highest place, together with the Bayliss Prize, in the recent A.M.I.C.E. examination, held throughout Great Britain. Mr. Goodfellow is a.former stndent of Auckland.Grammar School_ and of Canterbury College l?n----eineering_ School, Christchurch (N.Z.). He has Just been recommended for a commission, in the Royal Engineers. Brother Joseph E. M'Atcer, 8.A., late of New Zealand, and now on tho staff of St. Joseph's College, Sydney, is in this country on a long leave of absence to study educational methods fill this side of the world. He has boon in Italy and Franco for the past six months, devoting himself principally to ftducatioyjal work in connection with the Marist Order, And lie now proposes to soend some months in England, Scotland, and Ireland.
