CHAMBER OF COMMERCE
At the monthly meeting of the Council of the Chamber of Commerce, held yesterday afternoon, Mr. James Macintosh was elected to the position of president of the Chamber for the ensuing year. In returning thanks, Mr. Macintosh said he would try to maintain tho standard sot by his predecessors, whose photographs appeared on the walls. He knew it was goin» to be the most strenuous year _ for them all in the history. of the Dominion, and he hoped that they would all endeavour to forgot their own petty little troubles, and think only of the general good.of the community and the Empire. He returned his sincere thanks for the honour done him in appointing him president for the current year. Mr. R. W. Waterhouse was elected vicc-president, on the motion of Mr. Thomas Ballinger, seconded by Mr. James M'Lellan. The existing Hemp Committee was unanimously re-elected. The same course svas adopted in regard to the Dairy Produce Exporters' Committee. Tho existing Trade Terms Committee was re-elected' with the addition of Mr. D. A. Ewan. The existing Legislation Committee . was also reelected.
