ORGAN RECITAL

Mr. Page gave another fine programme at Saturday night's recital, when he introduced the public to. a work new to ■Wellington in Rebikoff's "Psychological Poem." ' In this is portrayed the conflict between the spirit of a dying genius and Death. The struggle of the soul against the inevitable was'. finely depicted; by Mr.v Page, and the work is obviously one which needs to be heard several times to be fully appreciated. Other items on a varied programme were sixteenth and seventeenth century works by Byrd, Frescobaldi, and Dandrieu; tie. variations by Karg-Elert upon the theme of Handel, 'the "Harmonious Blacksmith"; Mendelssohn's overture to "A Midsummer Night's Dream" ; a "Siegfried'. idyll, by Wagner; and the great "Toccata and Fugue in C Major," by Bach, with its beautiful slow movement in A Minor.

The Royal Wellington Choral Society has postponed its performance of Mascagnf's opera, "Cavalleria Rusticana," from May 28 to June 1.
