United 4 .St. Augustine X Karori 3 Wellington ...... 2 University 6 Insurance 0 Additional interest was lent to senior hockey, en Saturday at Karori by the entry of another senior team into the ■ contest. It was only during the week that it was known that another senior team had "pulled" itself together and had resolved, with such material as it had, to enter the senior contest. This team was Insurance. It was not surprising that it should fall victim to another eleven in view of the fact that it was practically the first time its members had played together. Insurance, however, should give a better account of themselves in a Saturday or two. The new l'etone team, St. Augustine's, again gave .an exhibition—again:t United this time—of its prowess, and although defeated put up a goocl performance'. Karori defeated Wellington after a close contest. The following are th» details of the various games played:— UNITED—ST. AUGUSTINE. The encounter between United and St.. Augustine's was a most interesting one. Although the Petone team was defeated, ithey gave a good account of themselves. United were predominant ui the first spell, and scored one to their opponent's nil. Pavitt was the srarer. The game was very willing in the second spell, ao much so that two players were hurt. One, a : St. Augustine's man, Clout, received rather a nasty hit from the ball, and had to be removed from the field. Atkinson shortly secured a brace of goals for United, while Andrews netted the remaining one. Webley was the scorer for "Saints." ■ Mr. A. W. Manning was the referee. KARORI—WELLINGTON. This game was a .particularly closely contested one. It was not until the second spell that Karori secured the score that placed them in the lead. Loader and Stratton each netted two for Karori, while Shceran and Waugh scored for Wellington. Mr. J. C. Cusack was the referee. UNIVERSITY—INSURANCE. The "scratch" eleven that comprised Insurance quito naturally found University only too often near tlieir territory,' and quite naturally again were unable 1 to stop the six goals registered against them. Insurance, however, played a very plucky game, and fought gamely to the end. Con Strack (3), Hostick (2), and Fogden were the scorere. ' Mr. G. A. Carver was referee. ; ! JUNIOR GAMES. St. Augustine's (2) defeated Wellington B (1). Mockridge and Andrews were the scorers for tne winners. University A defeated Wellington A by three goals to onfi. Le Petit, Ewart, and Hawkins scored for tbo winners, and Chappell for the losers: Hutt Valley defeated Karori B by 12 to nil. F. Lusty (4), Smith (4), Murray (2), and Eraser (2) were the scorers.
