Advice hoe been received by the New Zealand Shipping Company stating that their chartered steamer Daldorch, en route from Wellington to London, continued her journey from Tene-riffe on April 28.—Press Association. BAD WEATHER IN TASMAN SEA For the past week a very severe easterly gale has been raging in the Tasman Sea, and this has bees responsible for serious delay to steamers trading between Wellington and Sydney. The Union Company s E.M.S. Maitai, which should have arrived at Welllgton from Sydney on Wednesday last, has advised by wireless that she will not make port before this morning. The mossage stated that the vessel was . having a particularly rough time, and that several deck fittings had been lo6t. On account of her late .arrival the desarture of the Maitai for Raxotonga, Papjote, and San Francisco has been postponed till 6 p.m. to-day. ' A message- received in Wellington from Sydney yesterday stated that the Moana, bound from Wellington to the New South Wales port, had been delayed by heavy weather. MESS-TABLE GOSSIP. Mr. E. Yelienoweth, chief officer of the Moeraki, and Mr. D. M'Donald, chief of the Mokoia, have eiohanged positions. Mr. D. Gardner has joined the Kamona as chief officer, and Mr. J. D. Pa.ul has signed on the same vessel as second. Messrs. H. Neil and A. H. Physmill, purser and assistant respectively of the Mokoia, have transferred to the Moeraki. Mr. S. Taitham, wireless operator on the Mokoia. has joined the Moeraki in a similar oapacity. Mail advices from Home announce the death of Mr. Thomson, who had been chief engineer of the Tongoriro for some years. Deceased was found dead sitting in bis chair, by one of the other engineers at t.30 a.m. on February 4, just 36 the vessel was' neajing Plymouth on her Homeward voyage. Mr. Thomson had made 27 trips in the New Zealand Shipping Comapny's steamers. Mr. Stewart, late chief officer of the Kinl. has returned to Wellington from Svdney, after holiday leave. Seaman S. W. Lane, late of the examination steamer John Anderson, has been successful in obtaining a coastal mate's certificate.

After having undergone a thorough overhaul the Union Company's Moeraki arrived at Wellington from the south yesterday morning, and sailed for Sydney during the evening. Yesterday afternoon the Mokoia, which has been engaged in the Sydney-Wellington service, left port for Lyttelton, Dunedin, jmd the Bluff. 'She will- relieve the Faloona in the Melbourne-Hobart-New Zealand service, while tho latter vossel will take the plaee of tho Westfali'a .on the Aucklaad-Dunedin run. It is announced that instead of leaving Plymouth for Wellington, via Cape Town, and Hobart to-morrow, the New Zealand Shipping Company's Eemuera will not be dispatched from the Home port till May 4. She. should therefore arrive here about June 19.

The Hotonialianl, th« 30-year-old vessel which still possesses a turn of speed that is envied in many quarters, is now being overhauled and generally cleaned up at Melbourne preparatory to joining the express steamer Loongana in the MelbourneLaunceston service (says the Sydney "Shipping List"). This grand old steamer, ono of tho "oracks" in her day, is usually placed in this business during the winter season, when traffic between tho mainland and Tasmania is at its lowest ebb, but most likely this will be the last occasion, for by the time the next season begins the' Loongana will have been joined by the sister ship now building, the Nairana, and out, of them will bo utilised during the off period of 1916.
