•PROFESSOR HAECKEL CUTS ENGLISH ASSOCIATIONS. London, April 28. ■ Professor Haeckel, in resigning from the -Rationalist Press Association, wroto that ho would retain liis feelings of veneration for, and gratitude to, his friends in Britain and the colonies, politically, must deeply despise England. Professor Ernest Haeckel, the eminent German naturalist, and for many years Professor of Zoology at Jena, was born at Potsdam ,in February, 1834, and is known all over the world for numerous works, .-'of which one of the most popular is his "Riddle of the Universe.
