PHYSICAL TRAINING IN SCHOOLS
WANTED: A MEDICAL MAN. The Minister of Education expressed himself yesterday as being in entire accord with the views expressed in the annual report of the Wellington Education Board, that there should be close co-ordination between the physical training and medical inspection branches of tho Department's service. "I understand that the board recommends that the Director of Physical Education should be a medjcal man," said Mr. Allen in conversation with a Dominion reporter. "That is my view exactly. Indeed I have had this in mind ever since I became a Minister, and even before I became a Minister. But the scheme had to be established, and the difficulty was at the beginning to get that kind of man. It is still the difficulty. I have cabled to England to inquire whether I could get the sort of man we wait, but I am told that it is impossible at present. There are not very many such men available, unfortunately. Meantime we are oarrying on with the physical training staff we have, and they are being directed from the head office of the Department."
