The now rooms of the Sacred Heart (Thorndon) branch of the Hibernian Society were opened with a 6ocial gathering on Tuesday evening. Among those present' were The Rev. Dean Regnault, Fathers Herring and' Taylor (Marist missioners), Mr. P. D. Hosking, district deputj and secretary of St. Patrick's branch, Mr. J. P. M'Gowan, president St. Patrick's branch, and Mr. M. Walsh, representing St. Mary's Ladies' Branch. Mr. J. A. Humphreys, secretary, stated that the progressiveness of the society had necessitated the occupation of the; larger rooms. Messrs. R. P. Smyth (vice-president), R. P. Flanagan, and other members spoke in congratulatory vein. Musical and vocal items were rendered ■ by Misses Butler and Mulhano, Messrs. G. Ley don, A.
