LETTERS TO THE EDITOR
THE CITY'S VALUABLE BRICK AND TILE DEPOSITS.
Sir,—As a candidate for the City Council, may I ask a question that concerns the outgoing council relative to the above, ancf which is of vital importance to the citizens? Unlike many other towns in the Dominion, wo are richly endowed with very valuable deposits of brick and pipe-clay in and around the city endowments (Town Belt, etc.). In looking over the Mayor's annual statement I see no mention made of revenue received in the form of royalties from this source. It will be interesting to know how far the deposits referred to have been worked in the past, and if there are any deposits being worked at the present time. If so, what amount in revenue is being received by the city trustees? I write this in the hope of getting full information on the subject, as it has occurred to me that perhaps these doposits are being as a source of revenue or are not receiving the attention. they deserve. Meanwhile, trusting those in authority will be able to give a satisfactory explanation.—l am, A. R. HORNBLOW.
