PUBLIC WORKS SCHEME IN NEW SOUTH WALES

NORTON-GRIFFITHS CONTRACT

ENDORSED. Sydney, April 28. A. ballot of the members of the Railway Workers' and General Labourers' Association decided in favour of the contract system in connection with the Norton-Griffiths public works scheme, the voting being- 3469 to> 3051. The majority was- mucli smaller than had been anticipated. It is stated that a. knowledge that the ballot was going in favour of the scheme prevented the delegates to the recent Labour Conference supporting the censure vote connected with the matter.

The association, by ballot, also decided in favour of amalgamation with the Australian Workers' Union, the vot ing being: 5203, 1541.
