There was a very large attendance at the funeral of the late Mr. Charles Arcus, of Dalefield, which took place at the Clareville Cemetery on Thursday afternoon, a number of the brethren of the Druids' Lodge being present.
A miniature silver cup has been presented to the Carterton Oddfellows' Miniature Rifle Club by P.G. Bro. k'. Bisli and an anonymous donor, for an aggregate trophy for the season's shoot-
ing. The members of the Masterton Oddfellows' Lodge have arranged to pay a fraternal visit to the Carterton Lodge in a fortnight's time.
In the Police Court on Thursday morning a stranger to the district, and just in from the back district, was fined £2, in default 14 days' imprisonment, on a charge of using obscene language. Welcome rain .foil in the Carterton district on Thursday, and will do an immense amount of good. Several wheat crops in the Carterton district have turned out smutty.
