LOOTING AT RABAUL
OFFICIAL STATEMENT
Melbourne, April 24. Senator Pearce, Federal Defence Minister, interviewed 1 respecting the allegations of looting at Rabaul, emphatically declared that it was untrue that officers alleged to have been involved were being tried by other officers also said to be concerned in .the New Guinea affair. LEGISLATION NECESSARY. TO DEAL WITH THE LOOTING , OASES. (Rec. April 25, 5.5 p.m.) Melbourne, April 25. Mr. Andrew Fisher, Prime Minister, •states that it will be necessary to invite Parliament at an early date to ■take legislative action to enable the Rabaul looting cases to be properly and expeditiously, dealt with before a competent tribunal.
