Rom®, 'April 23. ■Martial* law.? has been proclaimed in (Trieste.

_On April 22 it iras reported that rioting wae renewed in Trieste on .Wednesday, as a, sequel to a summons to arms of all males from eighteen to fifty years of age. Several thousand women led the rioters to the Governor's palace, shrieking "Wo want bread I Give us back our husbands and sons!"

When the Governor threatened to call out the troops, the mob ran amok, breaking the windows of the Austrian shops and wrecked the fashionable Palace Hotel.

The dockers soiittled a large steamer about to leave with eight hundred tons of food for the Cattaro garrison. The crew escaped.
