IMPORTANT HEIGHTS .CAPTURED,; (Reo. April 26, 0.80 a.m.) Pstrograd, April 24. Oißoial.—We seized important heights at Telepoics in. the Sianka regions. The Austrian, attacks on Polen and Volossate were repulsed with enormous lobsob.
EAST AFRICA
GERMAN FORCE CAPTURED,
(Rec. April 26, 0.15 a.m.) London, April 24. The War Office gives the following official details of the operations in East Africa:—By January 2 the enemy had been cleared out of British territory and a British-Indian column, with the assistance of naval forces, established itself along the Umba Valley and occupiod Jassen, twenty _ miles within the enemy's territory, which was held by threo companies of Indians under Colonel Raglinsiugh. On January 12 a strong German force was repulsed with heavy los 6. The Germans, two thousand strong, with six guns and many machine gunis, again attaoked on January 18, and the garrison, losing its commandor, surrendered on the l'Jth after exhausting its ammunition, losing 270 men mostly as prisoners. Concurrently from Umba we occupied Mafia, and the garrison surrendered.-
Our armed steamer on Lake Victoria Nyanza drove ashore and disabled the armed Gorman steamer Muauza. Our 'forces defeated 300 Germans in the Shirati district, ii.'fiuting heavy loss.
