The- end of the season drawß near. Though the weather was perfect, it Was only the hardy ones who played lifter 4.30 p.m. on Saturday. Thereafter- the air became chilly, and tho turf damp. Two clubs at least closed their greens for the season on Saturday. These were the Victoria and Newtown Clubs, who deem that it is time to give their hard-worked greens a rest. Friendly games only were played on Saturday. VICTORIA CLUB. The Victoria Club's green was closed for tho season on Saturday afternoon. Ideal weather made the play most enjoyable, and the presonce of a-number of lady visitors added pleasure to the last day on the green. A match between members over 50 and those under 50 resulted in a win for the former by 100 to 79. The games were as follow: —Over: Kershaw, Levi, Barnes, Scott (s.), 19. Under: Thomson, Hislop, Campbell, H. North (s.), 14. Over: Avery, Rawnsley, Godber, Davidson (s.); 15. Under: Longmore, Johnson, Haughton, Langdon (s.), 17. Over: Broad, Butler, Dement, Hatch (s.), 15. Under: Cartor, M'Hutchison, Chapman, Vosseler (s.), 21. Over: Tingey, Mackay, Mack, Keith (s.), 32. Under: Ibbotson, Baudinent, Powell, Hobday (s.), 10.. Over: Armit, Baggett. Cray, MacMorran _(s.), 19. Under: Evans, L. R. Partridge, Worboys, Marks (s.), 17

Edwin Feathers,—The holders: 80lMartin, Varcoe, and Fossette (6.) retained the badges in a challenge game against Hunt, Tucker, Bedstone, and Hemingway (s.), by 18 to 17. Club Matches.—Club rinks: Thompson, Besant, F. Norti, and Norwood (s.) won the final game in the club rink competition against Kellow, Betty, Madeley, and Snaddon (s.) by 28 to-25. The club pairs competition was won by Bolton and Tucker (s.)j the champion singles by Hunt, and the handicap singles by Thompson. j
