SAILORS' FRIEND SOCIETY
An enjoyable concert was given, in the Sailors' Friend Society rooms last evening by the Mayor and Mayoress, (Mr. and Mrs. J. P. Luke), who received a great reception from tho large number of men present. The programme was an excellent one, and thoroughly enjoyed. Prizes were presented by the Mayoress for competitions. The follow-, ing contributed songs, recitations, etc.: —Messrs. Searle and Jones, Misses Jones, Jefferson, and Marjorio Jones, Jilrs. Storrs, and Miss Dodds. At the close refreshments (provided by the host and hostess) were handed round, and a hearty vote of thanks accorded Sir. and Mrs. Luke for their kindness in providing such a splendid evening's entertainment. Mrs. Luke, in a nice little speech, suitably responded.
