A HOROWHENUA GRIEVANCE

WELLINGTON HOSPITAL DISTRICT SEVERANCE. The question of tho severance of the Rorowhenua district from the Wellington Hospital and Charitable Aid Board egain arose at a meeting of the Levin Borough Council on Monday, when a statement of the estimated receipts and expenditure' for the ensuing year was, received' from the Hospital and Charitable Aid Board. The levy made on the Leviri. Borough -was £222, an increase of £30 over that of last year. The Mayor (Air. B. B,.Gardener) said that the expenditure was increasing each year, and would undoubtedly increase in the future. The Horowhenua County Council's levy had increased greatly in the three years —about £1200. He -maintained that they should try again for Eeverance, and approach Dr. Valiutine and place the present position before him. He moved that the council wait upon the County Council at its next meeting, requesting it to wait on the Minister and Hospital General in a joint deputation re severance. Councillor i'rance seconded the motion, which was adopted.
