ACCIDENTS AND FATALITIES
FOUND IN THE HAEBOUR. . 'An inquest was held bv Mr. W. 6. Riddell, S.M., yesterday afternoon u]>on the body of a newlv-born child, which was found floating in the harbour on Monday afternoon. Charles Stewart, a carpenter, said that on Monday afternoon; _at about 1.30 o'clock, lie noticed an objeot, which upon investigation proved to be the body of a child, floating in the harbour near Waterloo Quay breastwork. Dr. Gilmer said that he had examined the child's body. It was that of a fully-developed fomale child, very much decomposed. There were no marks of violence. The body had evidently been in the water from Bto 16 days. Ha would say the child had died from haemorrhage, and apparently had not been drowned. Constable Greggan gave evidence as to the removal of the body to the morgue. The Coroner intimated that he would adjourn the inquest until tomorrow, and then if no more evidence were forthcoming give his vcrdict. TRAP ACCIDENT. (By Telegraph.—Prcsu Association.) Chrlstohurch, April 20. The police authorities have been advised from Akaroa that a trap accident occurred at Pigeon Bay yesterday which onded fatally, Mrs. May Wilson dying soon afterwards from injuries received. Mrs. Wilson, along with lier husband, was driving along tho main road to Pigeon Bay, when the four-wheeled vehicle which she was driving capsized at Kennedy's Road corner. Both occupsnts were thrown out. Mrs. Wilson was 50 years of ago, and well known on the Peninsula. Her husband was severely injured.
