CENTRAL CHAMBER OF COMMERCE

+ The ordinary meeting of the Council of the Wellington Central Chamber of Commerce was held yesterday. Mr. C. M. Luke presided. A letter was received from Mr. E. H. Hiley (General Manager of the New Zealand Railways), in reply to a letter from the Chamber regarding the proposed new railway station and the inadequate accommodation afforded by the present- structures. Mr. Hiley wrote that he agreed that a new station was necessary, but at present he could givfno assurance that any improvement could be made in the present station arrangements. This, the chairman thought, was about as satisfactory as could bo looked for just now. The resignation of Mr. J. Fanning as from August 31 nest was icceived.
