RAILWAY COLLISION
EIGHT PASSENGERS INJURED THREE ENGINES DERAILED (By Telegraph—Press Assn.—Copyright.) _ Bydney, April 17. A 'head-on collision occurred between the express from Melbourne, drawn by two engines, and the Temora mail train at Binalong. Three-engines were derailed and four, carriages damaged. So far as is Known, eight passengers were injured, one seriously. None wore killed. DEATH OF A PASSENCER. FEDERAL LEGISLATORS CUT AND BRUISED. (Rec. April 18, 3.30 p.m.) Sydney, April .18. . lu. the train, collision seventeen were injured. The Temora train was standing at the Binalong station, which is approached a sharp bend preventing a view of incoming trains, waiting for the express to pass. Both trains , were heavily loaded with passengers.' The sharp application of the - brakes of -tho express, which threw many out of their s . ea^s sleeping bunks greatly reduced the impact, _ otherwise there would have been a disastrous smash. Robert lhomas, a well-known Temora resident, succumbed' to his injuries, others are mostly suffering from' cuts, bruises, and shock.
A party of Federal legislators were aboard the express. Postmaster-Gen-eral Spence received cuts on the face; Senator Watson cuts on the face and head, Senator M'Dougall cuts on tho nose and knees; Representatives Carr and West cuts on the face, none being serious. Mr. Joseph Cook, Leader of the Opposition, was thrown out of his bunk and 'Severely shaken. He fainted, but soon recovered. The cause of tbq accident is not stated.
