A BASELESS CHARGE

4 BIG BLOOK SUBDIVIDED. One of the election cries in South Canterbury and Otago was that the Government did not intend to subdivide the big block of seme 200,000 acres of hill country in North Otago known as the Omarama Runs. This land was then leased in one block, but when tho leases fell in after tho election tho country was at once subdivided. Tile Government had frequently announced its intention of cutting up the block, but a statement that the block was going to be let again to one lessee was repeated again and again. It has now been subdivided into one pastoral run and nine small grazing runs, and a small area was withheld from selection. Possibly this may be offered as ordinary farming land under more assured tenures.
