RIVERINA STRIKES AUCKLAND WHARF

CONSIDERABLE DAMAGE. (By Telegraph.—Press Association.) Auokland, April 13. The Riverina, when berthing at Queen Street Wharf last evening, collided heavily with a concrete pier. Her stem was badly bent about 6 feet above the water-line, and the lip of one of the bow plates on the port side was N torn out of the rivets. The .Riverina struck bow on, and the protecting piles were splintered and Bniashed for 30 feet on each side. The bow evidently hit the-solid ferroconcrete portion of the wharf. The decking was cracked for a length of about 18 inches. The damage will not prevent the vessel's departure for Sydney at noon to-day.
