MENTAL HOSPITAL PATIENT'S DEATH

*— ■ F. Goodwin, a patient at tho Forirua Mental Hospital, escaped from the institution at twenty minutes to 4 o'clook yesterday morning. A search party was sent after him, and at 8 o'clock Goodwin was discovered at the foot of a tree. His neck was dislocated and ho had evidently hung himself by his shirt, which broke under the stiaiii. Dr. Redpath, who viewed the body, could only pronounce life extinct.

An inquest will be held to-day.
