FIRES

OUTBREAK IN FREDERICK STREET. At 5.30 p.m. yesterday the Central Fire Brigade received a call to 32 Frederick Street, where some straw had taken fire in the loft of a eix-stall stable. The brigade managed to suppress the flames after the building had been slightly damaged and a quantity of straw destroyed. A couple of horses that were in the stable were removed to safety by a resident named Livormore, who lives a few doors away. The premises are in the occupation of two carriers, John Hastings and Frank Williamson. The firo is said to hnve been caused by children playing in the loft with matches.
