London, April 0. 'A! Gazette announces that Captain Kelly has been made a Companion of the Bath for chasing the cruisers Goebon and Broslau on August 6 and '7. The Goebea could have turned and sunk the cruiser Gloucester at any time, but was apparently deterred by the Gloucester's boldness,; which gave the impression that support was Close at hand. "The combination of audacity and restraint, and the unswerving attention to the principal military object^—holding on to the Goeben without overtempting , her—constitute," says the Gazette, "a model naval episode." For Conspicuous Bravery. Commander Ritchie has boen awarded the Victoria Cross for the most conspicuous bravery while commanding, (searching, and demolition operations at Dar-os-Salaam. "Although severely iwounded, he continued his duty,' in-. spiring example, until his eighth wound tendered" him unconscious." Men of the Sydney. Petty-Officer Arthur Lamber, Seamen B. Green, Joseph Kinniburgh, Harold Collins, ; and William A. Taylor,; and Stewart. Thomas Mullens., have' been awarded. the , Distinguished Service Medals for the action between . the jruisers Sydney and Eraden. i Heroes of the Canal Attaok. Lieutenant-Commander Palmes, of the torpedo-boat 043, haß received the distinguished Service Order for disabling Turkish boats that attempted the crossing of the Suez Canal on Feb : ruary 3. He showed great bravery, though severely wounded. ; Lieutenant; Carew' has been awarded the Distinguished Service Cross for directing the piloting'of • the armed liner Hardinge, though a shell had. shattered one of his legs; broken an arm., and inflicted other wounds. Steanier Captain Honoured. ■ '•'■• .Captain John Green, of the steamer iVosges, has been awarded the Distinguished Service' Gross.' The Admiralty, is issuing .letters' of approbation, equivalent to mention in dispatches, to officers and. men for meritorious' services' in the'. presence' of the enemy, • but not' necessarily under fire..
