WAIRARAPA GENEROSITY

RESPONSE, TO RELIEF CALK. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent! Masterton, April .11.

During the past week; or twoiconcorts and sales of flags have been held in various townships of the Wairarapa in aid of the Belgian and Allies' Relief Fund. These have resulted in a - sum of approxinntely £5000 being gained, and tlier* is i probability, of; another £1000 being added to this amount. The Kum of £1000 lm been subscribed voluntarily in addition, winch, brings ~the total to over £10,000. TJiis is apart from 1200 carcasses of ;• mutton and many cases of clothing, tho latter estimated at £2000 in value. For the War Fund the Wairarapa. subscribed ab6ut £22,000 making in all over £35,000.f0r the district. At a meeting of tho executive on Saturday it was decided to [vote £1000 to tho relief of the Servians and Montenegrins, to he followed bv £300 per- month to tho same causa. A' vote of £400 monthly was made to the Belgian Fund, and £100 and one hundred carcasses of mutton to ths LBakian Refucea Eoad in London,
