The attendance was quite up to the average, buyers being present from all parts of Otago and Southland. Shcop were entered from most of the flocks of the south, and some from the Waimate, Jimaru, and Ashburton districts. The donianjl for Romney Marsh stud rams and. for. better-class Border Leicesters was strong, but anything of less quality had no demand. In flock rams the entry of Bordei Loiccsters was very heavy; and towards tlie end buying beca™° ver .V slack. There was practically jio demand for Shropshires, but Corrieaales showed a change, and for a few minutes proceedings were brisk with good values. A number of excellent sheep were disposed of. Ewes met with a very flat sale, and were mostly passed over. The best price for a Romney Marsh stud ram was 27 guineas, and others sold at 25 guineas, 20 guineas, 19 guineas, and down to' 5 Guineas. Border Leicesters made 26J guineas, 20£ guineas, 17i guineas, and down to 3 guineas,. One Comedale brought. 21 guineas, one 15 guineas, and others o guineas. • Flock rams —Romney Marsh 5i guineas to 3 guineas, Corriedal6 one at 16J guineas, on behalf of Mr. White,- Rakaia; others 9} guineas to- 6i guineas.

Enrolments ..of new. members. in the various district branches of the New Zealand Farmers' Union is proceeding satisfactorily.'. Mr. H.,' J. Richards, organiser for-the Wellington Provincial Union, told a'Levin "Chronicle" representative: tliat he had had great success along the main line. Mangaweka branch membership has been raised from 9 to 42, Taihape from 1 to 76, and Rongotea from 8 to 55. Nearly 60 new names have been-added-to the Wanganui roll. Te Horo now has a membership of 35, and the Levin branch maintains its normal strength, although a large number of former members have gone away from the district.
