PRIME MINISTER AT CHEVIOT
(By Telegraph-Press Association.! Cheviot, April 8. The Prime Minister (the llight. Hon. W. F. Massey) visited Cheviot to-day, opening the local A. and P. Show. In the evoniiig he was entertained at a complimentary social by officials of the show. In responding to the toast of his health, Mr. Massey reviewed at length the influence of tho war upon New Zealand in relation to shipping, meat, and wheat questions. Keferring to tho shipment of meat, he said thoro would not be enough vessels till June. Thoro were now over 1,500,000 carcasses of meat stored and unable to be dispatched. That day, however, '20,000 carcasses loft Wellington. By Juno enough vessels would bo available to meet the requirements of tho Dominion.
