RUSSIAN SUCCESS DEVELOPING MANY PRISONERS CAPTURED (Reo,- April 6, 8 p.m.) , r,. . . Petrograd, April 6. Official.—Fierce artillery and bayonet fighting has occurred north of Bartfeld (on the Hungarian side of the Carpathians). We took prisoner 20 officers and 1200 men, and also took prisoner 25 officers, 2000 men, and three guns on the front between Mezo La Bovez and Uzok. "There was desperate lighting on Saturday and Sunday at the village of Okna, north of Czernowitz. tYo took prisoner 1000 men who had been left behind by the Austrians." (Rec. A German army corps has left Flanders to assist the Austrians in the Carpathians. A large number of troops have been ivithdrawn from the Tyrol to stop the Russian advance. THE HIGH COMMISSIONER'S REPORT London, April 5, 3.50 p.m. Petrograd reports: "West of the Ntemen, the fighting is developing greatly in our favour. Our cavalry, in the region of the village of Zeroania,. Buda, had a stubborn fight on Friday, with German cavalry supported Miy infantry. We made a dashing charge, sabring a great many, and' capturing o there, and drdvo the Germans from their position, occupying it and pursuing the enemy." "lii the Carpathians on Friday wo bad a great succcss in the sector north of the roads leading to Bartfeld, and also in the region from Mezo Laborez and Lutovitza. During the day wo captured on the Carpathian front more than 2100 prisoners, three guns, and three machine-guns. "In the Zaloszitkow region, the Austrians essayed offensive attacks, but completely failed. We captured two officers and 100 other prisoners. "In the Ohotin diroction, the Austrians were gravely defeated On Wednesday by a portion of our cavalry, and an irresistible attack on foot. The Austrians withdrew to the frontier."
