A match between a team of Auckland senior players and representatives of the South Auckland Association was commenced here yesterday afternoon on a soft wicket. OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND DRAAV. Dunetiin, April 3, The match Otago v. Southland concluded to-day in cold weather. A few rain showers fell, and a nasty wind was in evidence. The game resulted in a draw. The scores were: —Southland, first innings, 226. Second innings: Ban-. Herman, 1; ivemnitz, 25; Oockroft, 16; Poole, 38; Hamilton, 2; Kavanagh, 25; J. Gilbert-son, not out, 26; Doing, 6; Driscoll, 0; Tapley, 0; J. H. Gilbertson, 7; extras, 6. Total, 152. Crawford took four wickets for 49 runs, and Given three for 39. Kavanagh took three wickets for 29. PAHIATOA AND CARTERTON. Pahiatua, April 3. A match, 'Pahiatua, v. a Carterton was played here to-day, and resulted in a win for Pahiatua by one run. Carterton scored 36 in their first innings and 27 in the second. Pahiatua made 35 in the first innings and 29 iu the second. H. Booth 13 and Ogier 10 were the best scorers for the visitors. FOR THE BELGIANS. Ghristchjrch, April 3. The Belgian cricket match was resumed to-day. The Next Eleven were the winners, scoring 232 in the first iniiings. To-day for seven wickets they put up 154 (D. Reese, not out, 34; Whitta, 27; Nixon and Butler, each 25). The representative team's first innings yielded 141, and in the second they lost six wickets for 148. THORNDON AND NELSON. (By Telegraph.—Special Correspondent,) Nelson, April 3. The Tliorndon Club played Nelson on Friday last. The home side, batting first, made 70 (Louisson 37, Thomason 10). Martin secured all ten wickets for 50 runs. The visitors replied with 115 ■(Leu. Cording 46, Phillips 15, Carruthers 14, Bradley 10). Neale secured four wickets for 18 runs, and Thomason four for 38. For Nelson, who made 83 for four wickets in the second innings Langford, ont out, 24, Vercoe 22, and Neale 15 were the chief scorers. Carruthers secured two wickets for 10 runs, and Martin two for 37, for Tliorndon. THORNDON AND MOTUEKA.' (By Telegraph—Special Correspondent.' Motueka, April 8. In the match Thorndon and Motueka, Motueka made 70 and 58 (Holyoake, not out, 30, Siggleve 13,' Sanders 14), and Thorndon made 67 and 67 for three wickets (Bradley 28 and 25, Phillips 19 and 17, Murphy 15). Bowling for Tliorndon, Martin took eight wickets for 39 and seven for 34 runs; Phillips, two for 13; Staples, three for 15. For Motuoka, Smith took four wickets for 7 mns, and Everett three for 12. Thorndon won by seven wickets.
' K-ATF.TI.ATT BEAT ORIENTAL. The first Rugby match in Wellington this season was played at Atlilctic Park on Saturday between Kaierau (Wangamii) and Oriental. Tie contest was very even, and it ended in a win for the visitors by 14 points to 12 points. _ For Kaierau, Collier, Clark, Mullins, and Lockett scored tries, and Faber kicked a goal from a try Orientals dozen points came from four tries—one each by Avery, Marshall, Eberhardt, and Bennett. Mr. A. C. Kifcto was referoe.
The fifteenth annual report of the Victoria College Hockey Club states that the club had not been successful in annexing any championships last season. The senior team, holders of the cup, had been defeated by the United and MetroEolitan teams. Tho third-class team, owever,' had done better than on any other occasion on record. The report made special reference to those liockey players now serving at the front. The following are the members of the club now on active service:—Messrs. R. St. J. Beere, Clere, Seddon, Collins, Jones, Leary, Quigloy, M'Caw. Brockott, Yeats, Robinson, and Castle.
THE WAIRAU REGATTA. (By Telegraph.—Press Aesoclatlonui Blenheim, April 3. The Wairau regatta, held at Spring Creek to-day, was conducted under favourable auspices, and in view of tho championship regatta at Picton on Monday much interest was evidenced in the racing. Maiden Fours, one mile. —Waitemata, 1; Union (Christchurch), 2; Wairau, 3. Also competed: Picton, Blenheim, and Wanganui Uniou. Wairau and Waitemata obtained a good lead at the start, but at the lialf-distauco Christchurch Union moved up, and a fine finish resulted in favour or the Waitemata by a foot-. Wairau were one and a half lengths away third. Time, omin. 58seo. Youths' Fours, one mile. —Wairau, 1; Picton, 2; Wanganui Union, 3. Tho only competitors. Wairau led all the way, and won by three lengths, a similar distance separating second and third. Time, 6min. 3sec.
Junior Pairs, one mile.—Wairau, 1; Blenheim, 2; Star (Wellington), 3. Picton also competed. Wairau were in command throughout, and won by a len'gth. Time, 7min. 6sec. Maiden Pairs ; one mile. —Wairau, 1; Blenheim, 2; Picton, 3. The only competitors. Won by two lengths. Picton were a considerable distance ill the rear. Time, 6min, 49sec.
Senior Fours. One mile and a quarter. —Wanganui Union, 1; Blenheim, 2; Wairau, 3. Picton also con'pcted. This was an even race until half the distance had been covered, when Wanganui took the lead from Wairau, winning by a bare length. _ Blenheim finished a length ahead of Wairau. Time, 7min. 19sec.. Junior Fours, one mile i>nd a quartes. —Wairau, 1; Star (Wellington), 2. The only competitors. Won easily in 7min. 27seo.
MIRAMAR CLUB'S TOURNAMENT. The Miramar Club's Easter Tournamonfc was continued on Saturday. A very litfht southerly was blowing all day, and the conditions were all that golfers could desire. Tliero were fifty competitors in each event, and tho results wore as follow :—

Tho Christchurch Coif Club's Easter tournament started on Saturday. Tho professional match was won by W. Isles with two consistent rounds of 78. The best round of tho day was made in this match by D. LIFE-SAVING
Mr. V. T. Noble Beasley, captain and treasurer of the Blenheim Amateur Swimming Club, who is at present in Wellington, was examined at Te Aro Baths on Saturday for the Royal Life Saving Society's award of merit (second highest test) and passed satisfactorily. The examiners wero Messrs. A. Somerville and C. Collier. At the preBont time there are in tho Dominion only about half a dozen holders of the society's diploma (highest award), which is regarded as an extremely severe test of endurance and skill'. In an endeavour to prove that the test is not too severe to bo carried out in cold waters, Mr. Beasley intends to undergo the examination for this award in mid-winter. He holds the Royal Hu/nano Society's silver medal for saving life at Wanganui in 1904
