• FINAL GALLOPS. (ByiTelegraph.-BBedflJ' Comepondflnt.) Christchurch, April 3. . The final gallops were carried out this jnorning. In the early hours a very sharp frost was in evidence, and this caused most of the trainers to put their charges through their facings on the plough, ■which provided good going. The trial grass,was open, but was not patronised. -Nones and' Xanthos were out first, and the Martian filly finished two or three lengths (in front afc the end of five furlongs, run ,in lmin. 3 2-ssec. ■
• Scotch Melody moved freely m a sevenfurlong spin, which took lmin. 3ijsec. There was nothing between Merry Guest land Somnambulist at the end of five furlongs, .the half-mile taking 54sec. t Autumnus was assisted by Horleguin ' bver the last four, and covered six furlongs in lmin. 16 2-ssec. ! <■ After beginning slowly in the first furlong, Emperador, Mal'tegajde,' and Bimeter finished in that order at intervals of ithree lengths at the end of six furlongs, run in lmii}. 17 l-ssec. > . . Flying Start beat Nightwatch over six Jfurloiigs, tho journey occupying lmin. 16 3-ssec.

( Nanpata, after jumping two hurdles fairly well, was given a strong mile on the plough. Banksia alono went at a good even paoe thi-oughout when getting throug. a mile and a quarter task in 2min {•10 Msec. Gold Sonlt had had enough when six furlongs had been covered in lmin. 17 . 3-ssec.
Battle Eve and Adjutant went pleasingly when running along over five furlongs, faking lmin. 4 3-ssec.
Down and Skirl were together at the 'end of five furlonge, run in lmin. ■' l-ssec., the former going best. Snapdragon beat Don Francisco fairly Easily over seven furlongs, the filly, reeling the distance Off in lmin. 31 2-ssec. Honesty was picked up by Corrie at the five-furlongs post, and covered seven furlongs in lmin. S2sec. ' Court Martial, with the assistance of Merry Trick over a portion of the journey, cast a mile and a quarter behind in 2min. 13sec. Warstep, with the aid of Snub over the first part of the journey, and Ogier over the last seven furlongs, completed her task well in 2min. 8 d-ssec. . Derby Day brushed over five furlongs in lmin: 3 2-ssec. After the interval Tester and Bonation finished together at the end of. a. threefurlong dash in 37isec. ' Chudtc was stopping at the -termination of six furlongs in lmin. 16 l-osec. Encore ran five furlongs alone in lmin. Sjsec. First Glance dashed over six furlongs with great freedom, and was running on Well in lmin. lolsec. Lady Veles and Daytime finished qbreast' when five furlongs had been covered in lmiu. 3 l-ssec. Marc Antony finished better than EedEhire in a half-mile spin, which took 49 4-ssec. Meltchikoff and Jloddite took CO 8-ssec to accomplish a similar task. Martigues was allotted a strong working gallop. Samisen alone got to the end of five 'furlongs in lmin. 3Jsec. • Tannhauser took 51' 4-ssec. to encompass half a mile. Daylight Bill was assisted by Athenic 'and Snowraker at different stages, and ran a mile and a quarter in 2min. 18 3-5 sec. Treadfire beat Freo over fivo furlongs 'in lmin. 3 l-ssec., and Volspiel was in front of CoroDiform at the end of six run in lmin. 20 Msec. The Cornet had ■Horoscope well beaten over a similar distance in lmin. 19 2-s?ec. Clynelish (after running tlio initial furlong slowly), finished up a five-furlong task in lmin. 2 l-s=e'c. Sartorze had Art as a companion over the last half-mile, and ran nix fur'ongs in lmin. 17 2-osec. Andraea and Banian took a second longer-in a like task. Twelfth Night : alone finished well at :ths end of five furlongs in lmin. I.=ec. .Croesus, Multiply, Chortle. Petrosus,
and one or two others were also out, but were only allotted very light duties. The "Looker On," commenting oil the gallops, 6aj-s:— ■ Nones gavo Xanthos a very bad beating over six furlongs. She finished full of running, and was not blowing hard. Naupata was given a run down over two fences, and proved to be a clever fcucer. Afterwards ho was galloped a mile, and' showed himself possessed of more than fair pace.
Autumnus galloped six fnTlongs in a manner that shows he is not far from being alt the top of his form. Ho was not at all distressed nfler it.
Bimeter did not gallop at all gencr ously.
Emperador did his work in convincing style, and was always on the bit. Maltegarde galloped very well. Peg was too good for Charmilla. Tho timo was good. Derby Day looks in greait health, if a trifle on the big side. Roval is recovering from the wrench he gave one of his fetlock joints. Castiron looks well, but is not the best of jumpei'6, and Riccarion hurdles are very stiff.
Ladoga ran the best mile of the morning, and was easily too good for Kilrain. Gold Soult has been responsible for one or two smart sprints since he arrived from Porirua. He is a fine beginner, and always runs the first part of his gallepS at a great speed, but he does not finish too well.
Court Martial is very sore, and had to be hunted along with the whip before she would gallop to-day. Chortle, Multiply, and Croesns ware restricted to easy pacing. They were to bs sprinted yesterday. Medley did not sprint as well as usual while running three-quarters of a mile. It looks as if ATdenvhor will be a long time .repaying his purchase money. It took him a shade over 51sec. to run four furlongs. Warstep put up a good performance in her gallop over ten furlongs. She was carrying a light weight, bulfc so was Ogier, who picked her up over the last seven furlongs. The times for. the various distances were:—Two furlongs, 26sec.; four, 50sec.; five, lmin. _ 3 l-ssec.; six, lmin! 15?ec.; seven,. lmin. 29sec.; ten, 2min. 9 2-ssec.—a fine performance on a dead track. First Glance was running on strongly at the end of three-quarters of a mile. It was the fastest six furlongs of the day. Marc 'Antony is sprinting well, and will hav© to be considered when started. Volspiel was stopping badly at the end of his gallop. . Clynelish; who has been galloping three mornings -in succession, still looks big, .His effort over five furlongs was brilliant. Sai-torze was carrying a light weight when he galloped six furlongs. The gallop was done from almost a stand.
