GLOOM IN TURKEY
RUSSIAN FLEET IN THE BOSPHORUS London, April 3. "The Times" Sofia correspondent writes that travellers arriving at Dedivgatcli describe public feeling in Constantinople as depressed. Little credence is given to tho Government statements as to the impregnability of the Dardanelles, and it is generally feared that a great catastropho is impending which will seal tho doom of the Turkish Empire. It is known that munitions of war are running short, and hope is abandoned of obtaining German supplies through Rumania and Bulgaria. German officers, fearing a nocturnal mutiny, sleep aboard the ships.— J "Tinie.s" and Sydney "Sun" Service. TURKISH TORPEDO BOAT SUNK. RUSSIANS AT WORK. Athens, April 2. The Russian Fleet sank a torpedo boat and damaged another in tho Bosphorus on Sunday' last. CONSTANTINOPLE PREPARING. (Rec. April 4, 5.5 p m.) Sofia, April 3. Travellers ,state that the Q'urks are feverishly busy' constructing forts at San Stefano, near Constantinople, for l heavy guns. Thousands of troops are making ammuuitio'i. RED SEA FORT DESTROYED. ' Paris, April 2. A. communique states: "The armoured cruiser Desaix (7578 tons) destroyed a Turkish fort in tho Gulf of Akaba, in the Red Sea. "The cruiser D'Entrecastcaux (7005 tons), passing Gluzzeh, was attacked from tho shore, and retaliated, bombarding the town and the ' Turkish troops."
