GERMANS VACATE STRATEGIC POINTS. Cape Town, April 2. The Union forces operating in" German, South-West Africa have occupied without meeting opposition the important centre of Aus, at the extremity of the desert. Operations from this point will be greatly facilitated. The Germans evacuated Aus because the 'flanks of the line of retreat to Keetman's Koop were threatened. There are indications that tliey are concentrating to prevent cutting off in detail. They liavo abandoned an entrenched position at Hasuur, north-east of Rietfontein, which the Union forces have occupied. •
