T BANDSMAN INJURED 'ACETYLENE LAMP EXPLODES. Through the explosion of an acetylcno gas lamp at the Palais de Danse last night a member of tho Tramways Bnnd, Drum-Major A. J. Mills, was seriously injured about the face. The band was having its practice at tho time, and Mills had gono outsido the hall to attend to one of tho lamps. An explosion was heard and a man rushed in to say that Mills was severely injured. Dr. Martin was sent for, and after attending the man ordered his removal home. It is stated that ifc is possiblo tho injured man may lose the sight of 0110 of his eyes. Mills is a. married man, and resides at' Russell Terrace. A SUDDEN DEATH. An inquest was held by Mr. D. G. A. Cooper, S.M., yesterday morning into the death of Frank Tracy, who died suddenly on Sunday at Mrs. Jew's boardlnghouse, Lambton Quay. Dr. It. Gilmer, who conducted the post-mortem examination, gavto evidenco that deceased must havo been ill for some time. Practically all the organs j were E an abnormally fatty condition. CHILD DROWNED IN A' WATERHOLE. Dunedln, March 29. A daughter of Mr. William Adam, junr., farmer, of Otokia, was found drowned in a water-hole shortly before six o'clock last night. It seems that the child, who was two and a. half years of age, strayed from the house while milking was in progress, and fell into .the hole, being found drowned 20 minutes after she was last seen about the house. At the inquest a verdict of accidentally drowned was returned. , KNOCKED.DOWN BY A TRAIN. Christchurch, March SO. James Sanderson, of 52 Andrew Street, Sydenham, employed at the gasworks, was knocked down by a train while crossing the railway lines at Waltham Road crossing this morning.
