HALF-HOLIDAY QUESTION
POLL TO BE TAKEN. The City Council resolved last evening:—''As the petition presented to His Worship the Mayor praying that a poll may be taken ill the combined district of Wellington to decide what day shall bo observed as the weekly half-holiday, after being cheeked, lias been found to comply with the requirements of the Shops and Offices Act, 1908, the Returning Officer be instructed to arrange for the taking- of the necessary jk>ll in the manner suggested in his report, i.e., that each local authority concerned (Wellington City, Karori, Miramar, and Onslow Boroughs, and the Johnsouvillo Town Board) should hold a poll in its own district, and the results be combined. each authority paying its own costs, except that the Wellington City Council provide the ballot papers."
