THE PRICES OF MILK
CONFERENCE ARRIVES AT MENT.At a general conference of farmers and milk vendors, convened by tho Mayor (Mr. : J. P. Luke), and held last evening, the prices of milk were satisfactorily settled.
It was unanimously decided that the prices to be-charged to vendors by fanners will be:—April, May, June, July, tenpence per gallon; August, ninepence 'per gallon; the vendors not to have to take any surplus supplies during August. . , The price to be charged to the public is to be-the"same as last year, namely, fivopence pe;' quart from April 1 till the end of August. >, Councillor J. Godber was present at tlio conference with tho Mayor.
The Mayor- was thanked by the parties for arranging the conference. OTAKI DAIRY FARMERS' RESOLUTION. A meeting of dairy farmers .supplying fresh milk for Wellington was held at Otaki oil Saturday niglit, when the chairman read a circular which stated that members of the Wellington Licensed Milk Vendors' Association had agreed to pay no more than Bd. for the April supply. Afte. considerable discussion it was agreed that in view of the high prices paid for stock, etc., the farmers were justified in. asking for an increase in price, and a motion was carried unanimously that the dairy farmers pledge themselves to support the Dairy Farmers' Association at all costs in 'respect to the increased, price of milk asked for.
